Because the heat took a lot more getting used to, in spite of best efforts, we felt that a hotel check-in was our best option for traffic-everywhere-fully-booked-everywhere Holy Week.
I decided to focus our attention to the south, assuming that Makati’s finest hotels are already filled to the brim. We were 3 adults and a child. Our only requirement was some space, strong a/c, bacon and an egg station in the breakfast buffet, and a separate kid’s pool from the main swimming pool. That’s how we ended up with Bellevue.
You kind of prep yourself about the crowds and hordes of people that may or may not be in their best behavior during peak summer vacation season, but in the end there’s nothing anyone can do. Extra patience is the must-have, or stay home.
Was it 4 or 5 check in counters? All of them with about 5 people each queued up. Their groups and families huddled together with their luggage and plastic bags full of chips and soda wherever there is space left.
The hotel had staff serving complimentary drinks and cookies is a nice touch, however. And speaking of the staff, kudos to the frontliners who were quick and efficient but still affable.
The night was spent binge watching Riverdale – a night well spent. The morning was for Akira who didn’t get to go swimming the day before.
It was a classic case of a hot day but cold swimming pool water. She didn’t stay long and got cold fast 😦 Thank goodness for bathtubs and bubble baths.
Our requirements were met, for all it’s worth, and we were happy with our stay. Thank you, Bellevue, for our first staycation in the south!
